I'll also talk about why I started drawing, how to find your unique style, and the importance of setting goals to improve and stay motivated.
In this module, we’ll go over the essential equipment you need, from tablets and pens to the best apps for digital art. I’ll help you choose the right tools as a beginner and show you how to create an efficient workspace that supports creativity. We’ll also discuss color palettes, how to organize your workflow, and even how personal inspiration—your dreams and self-expression—plays a role in the creative process. Having the right setup makes all the difference in bringing your anime illustrations to life!
Now that you have your tools ready, it’s time to get familiar with Procreate. We’ll go over the essential settings to customize your workspace, how to open a new canvas, and the basics of brush setup. You’ll learn how to work with layers effectively, use selection tools to refine your drawings, and save and export your artwork in different formats. Mastering these fundamentals will help you work efficiently and bring your anime illustrations to life with ease!

In module 4, we’ll explore different anime styles, from classic to modern trends, and how they influence character design. We’ll also look at the role of blood and gore in anime, both artistically and culturally, and the significance of elements like Japanese school uniforms. You’ll learn how to draw anime-style hair and eyes, understand the connection between anime and music, and create captivating backgrounds that enhance your illustrations.
Bringing your characters to life requires a strong understanding of painting and rendering techniques. Here we’ll cover essential skills like facial expressions, eye and face detailing, and mastering colors to enhance depth and emotion. You’ll learn the fundamentals of anatomy, lighting, and positioning facial structures to create dynamic, believable characters. We’ll also explore the importance of sketching, dynamic poses, and how to develop your own original character, including detailed hair rendering techniques. With these tools, your anime illustrations will gain personality, movement, and impact.
As we wrap up the course, we’ll go over some final tips and tricks to refine your artwork and add those last details that make your drawings stand out.
